How to configure TIKI for GPS

1. First install the driver for your USB GPS. The driver came upon one
CD when you bought the GPS. But it can also be downloaded from the supplier
support pages on the Internet - or on this page if you
has a Haicom 206 GPS. The driver must be compatible with yours
Windows 7, 8 or preferably Windows 10. The GPS does not need to be connected
when installing the driver. Just run the driver installer.
2. Once the driver is installed, you can connect the GPS to a USB
gate. Position the GPS so that it can receive signals from the satellites.
If you are inside a house, place it near a window. Or go
Windows will detect that a GPS has been connected and will assign
it a COM port number - e.g. COM
3. You can find this number
in Windows Device Manager.

Open Device Manager.
In Device Manager you get a list of different devices.
Find Ports (COM and LTP). Here you will find your GPS driver - in this
the case is called the Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM3) driver.
The number in parentheses (COM3) is the port number. You must then use the port number
3 TIKI's GPS setup. Prolific is a driver that is used
of many GPSs, i.a. Haicom 204 and 206.

Start TIKI
If you have a licensed version of TIKI Navionics Gold click here
'GPS setup' button in the top bar of the screen. The GPS panel is
not available in demo version. The port number is by default
set to 1. Use the arrow buttons to change this to your GPS's port number,
in our example 3. Then click on "Check the vague port number".

You are finished!
TIKI will check the port, validate the GPS data and save the COM
port number (in this example 3) .From now on, every time you
start TIKI it will connect to the GPS on port 3.
The only thing you must remember is to always use the same
USB port on your computer. If you connect the GPS to another
USB port, Windows will assign another COM number to the GPS,
and TIKI will not find it on COM 3. Then you will have to change
the port number in TIKI's GPS settings. Much better to always
connect the GPS to the same USB port.
